to the local congregation

thompnickson2

Hi, everybody,

Please, if you have any of the signs of the corona virus – principally an otherwise unexplained fever and/or a dry cough – and/or if you have flown within the last week, please give the next FRIAM meeting a miss until your situation resolves.  Our average age is in the 70’s and we certainly qualify for membership in the “most vulnerable group”.

Apollonian that I am, I have decided not to come, myself, even with the above precautions.  I am trying to observe a 6’ separation from anybody outside my family.

Nick

Let the nerdy introverts among us celebrate that social distancing is now a good thing!  :-)

Re: to the local congregation

Gillian Densmore
lol I prefer to think of at Sociaty is Disturbing...but nerdy works to.  And now is a great time to brush up on zombie apocolypse rules:
Clowns and Script Writers are scary!
Run...Just run.(cardio)
Double Tap(If said zombie is still moving make it un-moving!)

Ok so my sense of humor and ribbing dark and heafty stuff doesn't always translate to text. Its like people think it's a disease from the Walking Dead or other zombie flicks, and acting like they do in those.
Sure show respect to people that are older (than me) and don't go out if you have a cold or flu. But isn't that the done thing anyway? oO Me hosting a meetup while I feel and sound like lurch...for less than 4-5 days just not done after that I'm (probably) not contagous.
But nick brings up a reasonable point that maybe to ease nerves at least to consider that.

Good idea, Nick.  Hope you're stocking up on food and stuff--Trader Joe's was a scene of mass panic today.

Re: to the local congregation

Steve Smith

FWIW, Mary and I are traveling the back roads of NM/AZ, having re-routed
from a trip to visit my 92 year old mother, meeting my 18mo and 8yr old
grandchildren traveling in from OR and CO.     OR waved off entirely,
while CO chose also to drive backroads, camping instead.

We scored a $400 room at the oldest lodge at the Grand Canyon for a mere
$100... usually these rooms are booked a year in advance.... the COVID19
caution has the crowds here down by a factor or 4 already... with many
more cancellations coming in next week.

The other back country we are visiting is already less busy this time of
year, but likely also under-used by far about now.

We are being careful in our interactions with other travelers and the
things they touch, but far from paniced.   We crossed I40/I25 a couple
of times, but no freeway motels or cafes for us... this lodge is the
busiest/most international yet... and highly subdued.

now off to yet-more-back-country, coughing into our elbows and leaving
things out in the sunlight for the sun to soak with UV-B.
