Santa Fe Holiday Warning

Douglas Roberts-2
Pamela, feel free to use this in your next novel about Santa Fe's complex  society:

Tequila my girl, is deceiving:
Take two at the very most.
Take three and you're under the table,
Take four and you're under the host.

...with apologies to Dorothy Parker, of course. (Original begins, "I wish I could drink like a lady...")

Also, credit must go to fortune -o

FORTUNE(6)                               UNIX Reference Manual                              FORTUNE(6)

NAME
fortune - print a random, hopefully interesting, adage
[...]

-o     Choose only from potentially offensive aphorisms.  The -o option is ignored if a fortune
              directory is specified.

Please,  please,  please  request  a  potentially  offensive  fortune if and only if you
believe, deep in your heart, that you are willing to be offended. (And that you'll  just
quit using -o rather than give us grief about it, okay?)

... let us keep in mind the basic governing philosophy of The Brotherhood, as handsomely
summarized in these words: we believe in healthy, hearty laughter -- at the  expense  of
the whole human race, if needs be.  Needs be.

Which reminds me, I was emailing a very proper English scientist lady
today, trying to figure out if her son and I had a mutual friend. Turns
out yes, they both worked at McKinsey about the same time. Son
described Michael, my friend, as very informal, lots of fun.

Oh indeed, I scribbled back--I'll never forget the time I was in
Michael's McKinsey office in Hong Kong, and he pointed to the Jardine
building across the way, festooned for obscure architectural reasons,
with rank upon rank of porthole windows. Know what we call that
building? Michael asked. Noooooo, said the innocent visitors. "The
building of a thousand assholes." Innocent visitors collapsed on the
floor laughing, but after I'd hit the SEND key, I suddenly imagined
Cecily calling for her salts.

Oh well.
