So we're planning a trip to Ireland.

So the first question is: are there any Friamers in Ireland?  We'd
love to visit.

And naturally, the second question is recommendations for places to
visit/stay.  We'll be renting a car in Dublin most likely, and
spending 2+ weeks traveling around the countryside and walking the
beautiful Waymarked Ways and looking for wonderful brew and food.  So
any recommendations warmly received.

Owen,

Ireland is a bit of a chaotic system itself :-) The value you obtain results
simply from whom you meet and what happens. As such it doesn't really matter
where you go or what you do.

Some basic suggestions though - Dublin has changed so much, it's just like
any other big city these days. My suggestion is to limit time spent there to
a minimum.

For stunning scenery, nice pubs, food, music etc. the west coast is to be
recommended. Just pick a location, from Kerry in the south to Donegal in the
north and then freewheel. Don't underestimate the relativity of time in
Ireland - it's takes an age, if you're to stop at every pub along the way -
so don't try to do the whole of the west coast in 3 - 4 days.

Remember to bring two things - good rain gear and lots of cash. Ireland is
no longer inexpensive, unfortunately.

Hope that helps, Colm

Hi... I'm sure you'll have a super time over here, a few suggestions:

- From Dublin you could take the route through Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford,
Cork, West Cork,
Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Galway and maybe even further
north to Mayo, Sligo and Donegal. Lots of walking in these parts and great
coastal views. Roads not great it spots so take care driving.

- If you want to house yourself in style, then check out the country houses
of Ireland
http://www.irelands-blue-book.ie/

- If you like golf:

http://www.golf.ireland.ie/

- There are opportunities to visit islands too, in West Cork, Kerry and
Galway. See

http://homepage.eircom.net/~daraoc/Aranislands.net/Homepage/AranIslands.html

- For alternative sunday afternoon entertainment, check out a GAA (Gaelic
Athletic Assocation) game, hurling is the best for excitement, played with
sticks and at great speed. See www.gaa.ie .

Enjoy your stay, and drop into NUI, Galway if
you're passing through for a chat on complexity!

best regards,
Jim.
