We have a pretty exciting line-up this summer for art shows. To help us out, we will need some short-term loans of mac minis and a 4 or 5 lcd projectors for our "Projected Light" show. We will need these for about 7 evenings in July. And for our FrankenCircuit Show (see attached) opening June 13 we are looking for the following: http://store.daleproaudio.com TOTAL - $492.97 (not including relays and controller) If you can loan mac minis or projectors, please contact Orlando at [hidden email]. If you can help out with the equipment list for FrankenCircuit or can chip in some money, please contact Phil Mantione at [hidden email] or 505-466-4832 Thank you for your continued support of sfComplex. And please plan on enjoying the shows this summer! -Stephen ============================================================ FRIAM Applied Complexity Group listserv Meets Fridays 9a-11:30 at cafe at St. John's College lectures, archives, unsubscribe, maps at http://www.friam.org |

Hey there Stephen -
My compliments to you for getting Monday's meeting together so quickly. A great deal of information showed up, on many levels. Your presence being more widely felt, like in the email below, will go a long way toward helping pull things together. I'd like to talk with you a bit more about several things you and others brought up, including (but not limited to) the identity and role of 'art' at the Complex. Perhaps some more information can help with that curiosity you expressed Monday. Hope to chat at some point- Tory On May 6, 2009, at 12:14 AM, Stephen Guerin wrote:

I swear I put an individual email address on that last email to SG.
However, Since it went out to the group I extend my invitation to anyone on this list to participate in a talk about 'art' and its identity and function at the Complex. Given the description of the Complex, a demystifying and clarification of 'art' is in order. Tory On May 6, 2009, at 11:02 AM, Victoria Hughes wrote:

Tory,
Art should never be demystified nor clarified, IMHO.
Perhaps its role at SFx is a good topic for discussion. I think art does play a useful role at the Complex because (1) it relates to an area of great interest to the Santa Fe community, so lures a broader group in, and (2) there is no other organization that explores the interplay of art and computing, which ties it into complexity.
