Fwd: [Activities-announce] SFI Seminar — Today

Owen Densmore
Administrator
In light of some of our earlier conversations, this looks like a good talk.  I won't be able to make it (plumbing!) but if someone does, could you let us know how it went?

"What is Energy?"

by

Norman Margolus
MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory

Abstract

Entropy was once viewed as an abstract mathematical construct, but it is today understood as a concrete combinatorial quantity that applies to both quantum and classical systems. In this talk we discuss Energy as a similar combinatorial quantity.

forgive the stutter-typing that sent two blank messages to the list

I thought I heard at Friam on Friday that Norman would also be doing a
presentation at the Complex?  Is that happening? on a schedule
somewhere?

Roger brought Norman by FRIAM last Friday. We had a nice chat with
him. He will give a similar talk on Wednesday night at the Complex:

Should be good.
