Has anyone bought an EeePC?
http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/eee-pc-review.ars http://www.eeeuser.com/ I ask because I'm considering one and would like to know what folks have experienced with the critter. -- Owen |
I totally want one--as soon as the budget allows! So, I'd be
interested in others first-hand views. >From the reading online, people seem to really like them. ~~J On Jan 25, 2008 7:27 PM, Owen Densmore <owen at backspaces.net> wrote: > Has anyone bought an EeePC? > http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/eee-pc-review.ars > http://www.eeeuser.com/ > > I ask because I'm considering one and would like to know what folks > have experienced with the critter. > > -- Owen |
Some weeks back there were complaints that these were too slow for
experienced users. Has that changed? -tj On Jan 27, 2008 3:55 PM, James Steiner <gregortroll at gmail.com> wrote: > I totally want one--as soon as the budget allows! Sorry to come late to this party.
I work with a guy who just bought a EeePC and I was lucky enough to get a chance to play around with it the other day. I would characterize it as an accessory. The best reason to have it is that for 399.00 you don't need to tote a heavy laptop around, heck the EeePC fits in a large coat pocket. I could do real work on it, OpenOffice, etc, but I could not see myself working on it for long periods. I did not play around long enough to "break" out of the GUI LINUX interface and play at the command line, but I was pleased with the experience. I think I would purchase one, but would like to compare to other candidates. I am interested in trying and XO before I decide what to get. Thanks for the info.
I have an XO and, in fact, Friam-er Carl Tollander and have have been talking about establishing an XO Interest Group in Santa Fe to swap tip and tricks. At least a half dozen Santa Fe Friam-ers have one. Are you in Santa Fe? -Tom On Jan 27, 2008 4:57 PM, Joseph Dalessandro <joe at nan0.com> wrote: > Sorry to come late to this party. > > I work with a guy who just bought a EeePC and I was lucky enough to get > a chance to play around with it the other day.
