Seems like this is square between "profiling" and that  PK Dick story "Minority Report"

The recent horrific killing of a 10 year old in santa fe makes me think that anything that can help with recidivism would be a Good Thing.


If the predictive techniques can at least identify those who should be watched more closely, I reluctantly agree it would be useful to try to do so.
