Well, the ad was certainly bracing to watch, as was a companion ad that ironically collaged trump speeches with fundamentalist “Christian” ravings.

I think that it's a good thing to point out that the Nazi flag and the confederate flag both represent evil. Might as well put it straight.
Here's a speech by Mitch Landrieu, then Mayor of New Orleans, on the occasion, three years ago, of removing statues of Confederate "heroes" from New Orleans' parks. He makes the case that the confederate enterprise was built on evil premises, namely slavery, and that it's a good thing it was defeated.

Wow! Some Ad! A bridge too far???
The Lincoln Project is a group of conservative republicans who think that trump is a fundamental threat to our constitution.
I am not sure it’s wise to relitigate the civil war, right now.

This is a time for choosing, Nicholas....

Which flag do you fly, Nicholas?
A flag of triumph and unity or a flag for losers and division?
It's a time for choosing, and late last night we released a new ad makes that choice clear.
📺 This ad begins airing on TV and digital media
in AZ, PA, NC, ME, WI, FL, and DC today:
Over and over, the Confederate flag — a flag of treason — has shown up at Donald Trump's rallies. He's never condemned it.
Our namesake, Abraham Lincoln, fought to preserve the Union.
And The Lincoln Project will do the same during the course of this campaign.
