Yeah, some talk should just have a slide with just the words "Moore's Law"
and no graphic, and then get on with it.

I too am a fan; my expectations were just higher.

I was entertained, too, but then I was selling Whole Earth Updates back
in 1969.  The people around me were all fans, and the woman who
sponsored the talk was right down the row.

If you want to pony up the cash, I'm sure SFI would be willing to let
you sponsor an evening with anyone who might remotely fit the series
profile.

Then, again, the talk did remind me of Danny Hillis' high altitude
keynote last fall.  They both had the feeling of having been
pre-de-constructed: a deck of slides that could be presented in any
order, moore's law in log and linear graphical presentations (how
singular!), and a set of observations which were seemingly being soft
pedaled by the presenters as if they weren't sure they wanted to talk
about them, yet.
