reMakeIT! call for entries deadline extended to June 4

Stephen Guerin
Deadline for entries to re:MakeIT have been extended to June 4th. For
entries and more info, please go to:

------------------------

Are you ready for something different in the “city different”? Do you
have an idea for kinetic sculpture or interactive installation art: do
you make your own music or create your own performances? Would you
rather make it than buy it, become the entertainment rather than be
entertained? Then we are looking for visionaries like you and your
inspired ideas.

re:Make It! is a three day festival hosted by the Santa Fe Complex as
part of its “Summer@The Complex” series of events. It will take place
over the weekend of August 7th, 8th and 9th 2009, showcasing the
spirit of D.I.Y. culture. We want to take art off the wall and expand
the possibilities of what art can be. We are seeking proposals from
artists and art groups for large scale interactive, sculptural,
kinetic, and installation works. We are also looking for submissions
of original music and performers.

re:Make It! is about using technology in innovative ways, and finding
new and creative means such as circuit bent and hacked electronics to
control light, sound, and motion. It is also about utilizing materials
considered obsolete by fast paced consumer culture, repurposing these
materials towards a more sustainable future, and promoting self
reliance. It is also about creating fun, interactive, out of this
world, modular and evocative works which engage the viewer and that
viewers can interact with. It is not a typical gallery show, although
artists who normally show in galleries are encouraged to submit
proposals. The intention is to create a new and different kind of
event, and to create unique and original works specifically for this
event. If you are interested in submitting a proposal, great! We want
to hear from you and hear about your ideas.

If you have an idea for a piece but don’t have enough of a technical
background to be able to create it on your own, we want to hear about
it. The Santa Fe Complex fosters collaborations between artists,
technologists and scientists. Conversely, if you have trade skills,
technical or come from a scientific background, and want to put your
skills towards a creative project, we want to hear from you as well.
So if you have an idea, and it’s possible, chances are we can Make It!

Proposals for larger artwork need to be received by June 4th for
consideration. We would prefer that all proposal materials be sent via
email; however you can also send proposals to: Santa Fe Complex 624
Agua Fria St. Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501

If you have further questions, send us an email [hidden email]
or call David McPherson at 505-316-1588. And thank you in advance for
wanting to be a part of this!
