Does anybody have any suggestions for removing your information from
reverse look-up directories ? This came up because I listed an item for sale on Craigslist. Several replies I received made me think they were actually trying to set up a robbery by getting my home address. After thinking about it some more, it occurred to me that if I provided a phone number, they could possibly use that as well. I discovered there are many on-line services offering to do this sort of look up, including Google. It appears that each of the individual look up services provide a way to remove yourself from their service, but that would do nothing for the other services. So, you need a way to remove yourself from the databases these services are purchasing. (In any case, the Google website for name removal does not work !) Joe,
I do internet paranoia as good as the next guy, but it occurred to me to wonder why knowing your address from an ad on ebay would identify the house as worthy of robbery any more than choosing a house a random. Am I missing an real chance to feel persecuted? By Google? If you offer to sell something worth, say, $1,000, then you have
identified yourself as having that thing. No ? And perhaps other things as well..
