Santa Fe Complex needs warm, easy, welcoming, social atmosphere -- coffee
shop can provide this in one corner, open mornings, afternoons, nights,
generating profits for the operators and rent for SFC,
and increasing vastly the range  and number of types who can initiate a
natural, risk-free explorations of the many bewildering enticing aspects of
the unleased creativity.

Adjacent to it, I'd like to set up a mirror, desk, couch, and public access
PC laptop (one of my spares), with a donation jar, and be available many
lunchtimes and afternoons weekly, playing at my current explorations: world
Net democracy, novel astrophysics in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field,
collaborative meditative explorations, vegan diet and toxins de jour.

I'd like to MC the remarkable 2-hour free "Net event" of Eckart Tolle with
Oprah Winfrey, Monday nights, shared on a large projection screen.

Another night could be Dance Free, along with Music Free jamming, donations
accepted.  ditto Theater Free.  Impro, impro, impro.

Fresh art gallery, especially on the walls, SFC takes 25% commission.

Rich:

I'm going to jump in here with my reactions to what I think fits at
sfComplex.  I'm just one guy, and I'm relying on the idea that a pattern
will emerge from all of us.

The things I think are a good fit are:

warm, easy, welcoming, social atmosphere
world Net democracy
novel astrophysics in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field
Fresh art gallery, especially on the walls

The things I don't think fit are

coffee shop/wifi open to the general public
mirror, desk, couch, donation jar
collaborative meditative explorations, vegan diet and toxins de jour
Eckhart Tolle webcast
Dance night

I'm happy to share my reasoning on this, but for now will leave it open to other people's comments.  I'd also like to see if Friam list serve is the right place for the discussion.

Is there a public forum for discussing the financial challenges and
opportunities of SFC?

Thanks to all,  Rich

Doug,

Nothing self-funding but plenty of flocking. www.sfcomplex.org is
developing and will carry summaries (for now), downloads (phase 2) and
live feeds (3). So far, we've seen a barcamp, a blender (a self-
organizing event around a central speaker/topic), a couple of techtalks,
More at www.sfcomplex.org. Tomorrow, a major City of Santa Fe housing
summit. Progress.
