Does anyone know the key functional differences between joomla, drupal, xoops? Has anyone built modules using modx and have experience they would like to share? If anyone has extensive experience working and building sites and modules for Joomla, drupal or xoops and needs some contract work please contact me. Hi Ann - I've had a good bit of experience in using Joomla, and a little bit in Drupal, and my conclusion is: I don't like either of those platforms. They're awkward, clunky and cumbersome (Joomla is worse, I think.) Many of the popular modules I've tested are bug-ridden. And when the whole point is to make it easy for nontechies to edit content, the resulting frustrations have prevented the sites I've made with Joomla and Drupal from flourishing.
These days, I'm totally into using WordPress, which started as a blogging platform but has evolved into quite a robust CMS (Content Management System.) Just to illustrate some of the diversity that's possible to create very easily in this platform, check out a few sites I've helped create this way: http://www.wolfesongs.com/skydyes/ <- a reworking of my balloon site that I'm about to launch publicly but is still in dev) It may not be the solution for everyone, Ann, but it sure is fast, easy and powerful. But no, I'm not looking for contract work in any platform! -Jonathan Wolfe, Ph.D. Executive Director Next First Friday Fractals show: May 1'st Fractals are SMART: Science, Math & Art!
