I can't vouch for it quite, but seems plausible.
http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/wildlife/article2449968.ece "Now a limited study at Landau University has found that bees refuse to return to their hives when mobile phones are placed nearby. Dr Jochen Kuhn, who carried it out, said this could provide a "hint" to a possible cause." "Dr George Carlo, who headed a massive study by the US government and mobile phone industry of hazards from mobiles in the Nineties, said: "I am convinced the possibility is real." That's the whole point of a mobile phone. Even bees know that, presumably. Cheers, Bill |

You have to admit, though: that cell phone idea is a honey of an explanation. --Doug -- Doug Roberts, RTI International droberts at rti.org doug at parrot-farm.net 505-455-7333 - Office 505-670-8195 - Cell -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I understand at one point the downtown Santa Fe public library was
planned to be an initial public wifi hotspot. Concerned citizens suggested that the walls be lined in foil to protect the public from the radiation... I guess they didn't notice that large tower just a block away! |
well,.... apparently FRIAM is a little short of environmentalists.
There are a lot of animal navigation methods we don't understand yet, and the fact that bees are loosing theirs a large region at a time now has absloutely huge economic and ecological significance.
