OK, my iPod is sorta fading, its only 1-Gb and three years old. So
I'm looking at a replacement. Question to Friamers: Is the video iPod at all interesting/useful? http://tinyurl.com/l48ky I mean, just what do you *do* with the video? I suspect its a feature that no one uses yet, but hopes it'll get useful in a bit. -- Owen Owen Densmore http://backspaces.net - http://redfish.com - http://friam.org |

Meribeth loves hers. You can buy videos of tv shows and stuff like that from
iTunes, and several media websites (Homestarrunner.com for one) have videos to play on your iPod video. Other than that there are a ton of utilities that will turn avis (or whatever) and/or dvds into the correct resolution for the iPod. The controls are *so much* better than the horrid 3g ones there isn't even a comparison. They've very similar to the 1g controls which were, IMO, brilliant. I hate the 3g controls. The latest amaroK's interface for the iPod is so good that I'll probably get one myself when mine dies unless someone pulls something really great out of the ether fuzz (here's a shameless plug for a product I have nothing to do with: amaroK is Insanely Great!). Neuros keeps talking about how awesome their next player is going to be, but so far nothing has materialized. I got a 30GB iPod Video and I am finding that I rarely use the video
feature. I don't enjoy looking at videos on the tiny screen. Also playing videos quickly empties the batteries (2hrs if you are lucky). I often use it to do simple PowerPoint presentations (http://tinyurl.com/r7hy2). It works fine for my students at the university, but I would not use it for my client presentations. Your resolution is down to 720 x 486 in Pal mode. You can also do the same trick with iPod Photo. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Owen Densmore" <[hidden email]> To: "The Friday Morning Applied Complexity Coffee Group" <Friam at redfish.com> Sent: Sunday, May 28, 2006 6:32 AM Subject: Re: [FRIAM] iPod Video > Oops, not 1Gb but 10Gb, but still... > > -- Owen > > Owen Densmore > http://backspaces.net - http://redfish.com - http://friam.org > > > On May 27, 2006, at 9:27 PM, Owen Densmore wrote: > >> OK, my iPod is sorta fading, its only 1-Gb and three years old.
