foghorn cleghorn

Nick Thompson
And now for a little geriatric reminiscence.

Isnt "foghorn cleghorn" a mixture of two references from  the 50's.? one, I think, is to Senator Foghorn, who I think was an occasional character on the Jack Benny Radio Show.  "Cleghorn" I cannot do, but it rings a bell.  "Fibber McGee and Molly?"  Help me out her, folks!

Ah to be young in the 50's again.

Well, discounting the fact that whenever the phone rings several of the parrots shout "HELLO!" after each ring until I can answer it...

And then the Macaw invariably says, "Hi! How are ya?" in a voice that closely resembles that of Foghorn Cleghorn.
