Yes. In principle, we should all be using VPNs. In practice, not so much. If I were you, I'd try it out and if it worked, keep using it. I can't vouch for expressVPN, though. Which corporations you trust will vary with your personality.

One of the main uses of a VPN is to watch programming that is unavailable in your region.   One simply transports through a VPN relay to where it is available.   Unfortunately, it is usually detected and prohibited.

Another use for a VPN is to hide your identity when accessing a service.   Like when reporting from a hostile region where you could be shot if your reporting was discovered.

It is simple to set up and use a VPN.  It is a lot like dialing in with a modem, just an extra login step.

Thanks, Marcus,

Well, with a 30 free trial, I guess it’s worth a shot.  I really would like access to old britsh TV.

Re: expressVPN

Marcus G. Daniels

Isn’t there a “britbox” that they pitch on the public TV funding drives?    That’s probably a better choice, and you won’t be shut down unceremoniously.

I use ExpressVPN (along with Astril and Nord VPNs) when behind the Great Firewall of China to access Google Apps, News Media, and other blocked sites..

I’ve been using NordVPN for half a year now to watch Amazon Prime here in Ecuador. So far it works very well for about three bucks a month. ExpressVPN might be a little better, but pricier.
