I found something interesting in the link to "38 Dishonest Tricks"

copyrighted in 1930, 1953, and 1974 -- all well before our supposed age of
Political Correctness:
"(1) The use of emotionally toned words (pp 10-25). Dealt with by
translating the statement into words emotionally neutral."
Many "emotionally toned words" are reflections of moralistic
judgments. Odd that someone in the 1930's would propose an approach that
others today might criticize & label as a PC "trick" or conspiracy, i.e.,
taking morality out of the argument ... and that the author would put it at
the top of his list.
