New electronic paper application to be launched in April
*iRex* Technologies BV, a spin-off from Royal Philips Electronics, plans to
launch an electronic paper (e-paper) application next April, reports *Inside
IT*. The new gadget called* Illiad* combines an electronic paper display
with touch screen and wireless networking technologies (see picture

Illiad will cost about 400 to 450 Euro, its weight will be around 390 g. It
will have interfaces for USB memory sticks, LAN and WLAN (more details see

According to the iRex website, the new product offers digital written
content that "can now be read as easily and conveniently as the printed word
on paper. The iRex Technologies E-reader provides true reading comfort,
flexibility and versatility. It can be read outdoors, in sunshine or shadow.
As well as reading you can also write comments, mark or underline sections,
for a true two-way paper experience."
*iRex* focuses on B2B partners with its new product. However, the new
application could also be a further step leading to the digital newspaper.
