USB-Firewire adapter question

Victoria Hughes
Hello all-
I am working on PURDe with Ethan, and need an adapter for a firewire
connection to the hard drive on which are stored all the archives for
the Complex.

I have a MacBook, with two USB ports and no firewire port.
Is there an adapter that I can plug into the USB port, into which I
can plug in a firewire cable?

Is there by any chance a spare floating around the Complex?
Anyone know where I might easily pick one up in town or online?

Thanks
        Tory

You may have a Firewire 800 connection and not realize it.  They are not
rectangular, they are square and smaller.
Adapters for those are cheap, but you probably can't get them in town.
Also the drives may not only be firewire, they may have USB connectors.
