Two interesting articles I've seen recently on Terrorism, Iraq, and
Libralism. Stimulated by a good lunch conversation with Stephen and
Carl:
War after the war -- George Packer -- 2003-11-24
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?031124fa_fact1 An in-depth article from the bottom up by a sensitive observer
for the New Yorker. Leaves you with a feeling for what its
like on-the-ground. Introduces complex sets of Iraqis and
a class of their least known problems: psychological.
Terror and Liberalism -- Paul Berman -- 10.22.01
http://www.prospect.org/print/V12/18/berman-p.html Much briefer, but very germane: Dealing with terrorism
and our own liberal attitudes. Interesting historical
perspective, with one being that this is the next
"cold war" and insights as to what that means.
