Two Articles

Owen Densmore
Administrator
Two interesting articles I've seen recently on Terrorism, Iraq, and
Libralism.  Stimulated by a good lunch conversation with Stephen and
Carl:

War after the war -- George Packer -- 2003-11-24
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?031124fa_fact1
An in-depth article from the bottom up by a sensitive observer
for the New Yorker.  Leaves you with a feeling for what its
like on-the-ground.  Introduces complex sets of Iraqis and
a class of their least known problems: psychological.
Terror and Liberalism -- Paul Berman -- 10.22.01
http://www.prospect.org/print/V12/18/berman-p.html
Much briefer, but very germane: Dealing with terrorism
and our own liberal attitudes.  Interesting historical
perspective, with one being that this is the next
"cold war" and insights as to what that means.

The three sites above provide a host of other sites, most of which
are actual wireless communities.  The Cerritos effort is commercial with
Airnet being allowed to wire the community of Cerritos through a
franchise mechanism similiar to a cable company or other utility.  This
might be the most reasonable model for this type of activity.  However,
a lot of this is happening as another FreeNet type of activity.

Because MOST of Santa Fe (the City) has broadband connectivity (DSL or cable).
