Trello, Spolsky and Albuquerque

Atlassian (known for JIRA & CONFLUENCE) has bought Trello this week for $452 million. Trello was founded by Joel Spolsky who was born in.. Albuquerque ! One of my Polish colleagues joked that his name Spolsky may come from a Polish grandparent who emigrated to the US, couldn't spell his name and just told he is from Poland ( "Z Polski" means "from Poland" in Polish ). However from Albuquerque in NM to being a millionaire in NY is not bad, isn't it?

Microsoft was founded in Albuquerque as well. There must be something about Albuquerque that makes it special :-)

Speeking of amusing anecdotes:

Urban legend has it that BillGates Senior got stoned, and on his way home was pulled over for doing 50 over then speed limit of 40 on the highway

BillGates(jr) had a flight Delayed decided to go barhopping in ABQ, held for causing havoc and groping one of the bartenders.

A few actors got a bit of a start in ABQ as well. BionEers a ecology and mantenence collective was started in ABQ for what that's worth.

FrenchStewart and John Malkovich (suposedly) gotstarted in ABQ.
