I asked the Groovy list if Thinlets and Groovy have been successfully
used together. I got some interesting pointers from Gerald Bauer who's done a lot of work with Luxor and SVG. Here are some links: http://luxor-xul.sourceforge.net/ http://luxor-xul.sourceforge.net/talk/vanx-jul-2002/slides.html http://luxor-xul.sourceforge.net/talk/jug-nov-2002/slides.html BTW: I'm sending this to Friam rather than WedTech 'cause I think there are lots of folks interested in tech discussions who are not on the WedTech list. I suspect we should expand/augment WedTech to include not only the folks interested in the Wed meetings, but also the techies among us. Background: One of our WedTech interests is rapid application prototyping. Using Thinlets is a very quick way to build fairly complex GUIs via XML. http://thinlet.sourceforge.net/index.html Owen > From: Gerald Bauer <[hidden email]> > Date: November 2, 2004 12:10:29 PM MST > To: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [groovy-user] Thinlets & Groovy? > > > Hello Owen, > >> Has anyone used Thinlets as a GUI for Groovy? >> http://thinlet.sourceforge.net/ >> >> I note that Groovy is available in the scriptable >> thinlet: >> >> > http://perso.club-internet.fr/sjobic/thinlet/scriptablethinlet/ >> ..but I wonder if Groovy has been used as the "main" >> (calling the >> "parse()" method for thinlets) >> >> Thinlets are a pretty nifty GUI stunt, and with >> Groovy, would provide a >> great way to write quick applications. > > You might also post your question to the Thinlet > Developers Group online @ > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thinlet > > So far it looks like most people on the Thinlet > Developers Group prefer plain-old Java over scripting > according two some recents polls. > > Also note that you can use the Luxor XUL toolkit as > an alternative to the Thinlet XUL toolkit. I've followed SVG from the sidelines. Is there a way to do interactive apps
in the client that doesn't require a roundtrip to the server yet? -Steve ____________________________________________________ http://www.redfish.com [hidden email] 624 Agua Fria Street office: (505)995-0206 Santa Fe, NM 87501 mobile: (505)577-5828 > -----Original Message----- > From: Owen Densmore [mailto:[hidden email]] > Sent: Thursday, November 04, 2004 9:37 AM > To: The Friday Morning Applied Complexity Friam > Subject: [FRIAM] Thinlets, Groovy, Luxor and SVG > > > I asked the Groovy list if Thinlets and Groovy have been successfully > used together.
