The Postmodernism Generator

Very cool, Jochen.

Reminds me of the StuBot that created abstracts for Complexity talks that
used to be at
http://www.santafe.edu/~smfr/cgi-bin/stubot.cgi. It appears to be gone now.

I'm not sure, but I think this is a version of it on Simon Fraser's page:
http://www.smfr.org/cgi_bin/stubot.cgi.

Stu, I don't know the original context of the StuBot, but if imitation is
the sincerest form of flattery, the autonomous agent is giving you some
love.

-Steve

The StuBot at http://www.smfr.org/cgi_bin/stubot.cgi
is not bad. Everytime you click on "next paragraph"
he creates a new paragraph of a "complexity" paper.

Some other entertaining projects from
elsewhere.org using algorithmic text
generation:

The subgenius brag generator:
http://www.elsewhere.org/cgi-bin/brag/

The band name generator:
http://www.elsewhere.org/cgi-bin/bandname

Generators for autogenerated text from
other sites:

The Dialectizer
http://rinkworks.com/dialect/

The TechnoBabble applet
(now I know where the typical Star Trek
words like "Taychonic anomaly", "warp core" and
"protonic field generator" come from..)

The Postmodernism Generator

Robert Howard-2-3
Richard Dawkins wrote an entertaining article called "Postmodernism
Disrobed". http://www.physics.nyu.edu/faculty/sokal/dawkins.html
It's quite interesting that people (as well as computers) deliberately
generate this gobblygook.
