The Fractal Foundation

Peter-2-2
For all of you who have never been this is a truly great show that is
held regularly at the planetarium in Abq

http://www.fractalfoundation.org/

Want to see kids of all ages give a STANDING ovation to MATH !!!!

Go see you will have fun but get there early as the shows are always
sold out

Jonathan Wolfe who runs this is a deep brain type immersed in cognitive
and complexity theory

Friam should have one of his shows at the complex for W21 and First mile
think how this could be blasted to schools everywhere

Owen also mentioned yesterday at the ad hoc friam that he is trying to
get the Institute to give a similar summer show at the Complex -----
GREAT Idea how do we make it happen ?

The Fractal Foundation

Jonathan Wolfe
Thanks for the plug, Peter!
I've long wanted to do a show at the Complex, and really it's just a
question of making the time. I'm eager to connect more with the Santa
Fe community, and this would be a great way to do that. A few months
ago I gave an evening "Science Cafe" presentation at the OKeefe Museum
for the SF Alliance for Science, and it was very well attended and
received.
I have a bunch of ideas for things to contribute to the Complex, such
as interactive fractal exploring computers, immersive video feedback
machines, etc.  I'd also love to display fractal art made my students
I've taught, as we have lots of impressive mathematical art, and I'd
like it to be inspiring more people to use their computers creatively.
As for timing, This summer, after July 4th, is promising, but somehow
I'm already - ridiculously - fairly well booked up in Sept, Oct, and
November. So maybe in July or August we can get some fractals up to
the SF Complex, and see what we could do about blasting it to wider
audiences electronically. If one of the logistic functionaries wants
to talk scheduling, drop me a personal email please.

Thanks!

Next First Friday Fractals show: June 6th. Coming July 4th, "Fractals
Rock!"
Fractals are SMART: Science, Math & Art!

Don Begley
Jonathan,

We'd love to have you up here. The remodeling job for our main hall is
finally done so we can move forward with an active program and we're
developing our summer schedule.

We're working around two primary event types: Wednesday night blenders
(as in blend presentations and discussions) and Saturday day or
evening special events. If you have an opening in July or August,
we'll put something together. Obviously, we'd be happy to accommodate
your schedule if the Wednesday/Saturday slots don't work. Reply off-
list if you'd like and we'll put something together.
