Sorry for cross-post, but ... Its that time again, and I'm moving from Verizon to a GSM carrier. We've discussed this before but things do change quite a bit in the cellular world, so bear with me: Who has better coverage in Santa Fe now, ATT or TMo? Vzn has the best, or at least had it at one time, but not all that much better where I live. And living in Santa Fe is sorta a 3rd world experience anyway. I'll be buying my own phone so no worries about contracts, just a good, reasonably priced plan with at least some coverage at the really important places: 2nd street brewery, downtown, SimTable. I’d like to know the same. I’m with Verizon right now because it did/does have the best for both Santa Fe and NYC, where I need coverage. But the cost is high, and Verizon sucks for overseas.

It's interesting that the basic act of comparison shopping is thwarted by the need to keep your own phone number while testing. If you aren't getting the calls that you normally would get, then it's pretty hard to judge the coverage. Just because it says x-bars doesn't mean that it won't drop the call or fail to ring. I've been perfectly happy with t-mo since I switched from sprint a decade ago, but I'm not very demanding. My wife switched from t-mo to att to get an iphone, then to verizon to get new mexico coverage while on the road, and she pays more than twice, maybe thrice the monthly bill that the whole rest of her family pays. It's interesting that you can judge the obscenity of a company's profits by the kickbacks of their profits they offer to entice you into signing up. -- rec -- On Fri, Dec 12, 2014 at 12:11 PM, Pamela McCorduck <[hidden email]> wrote:

“It's interesting that you can judge the obscenity of a company's profits by the kickbacks of their profits they offer to entice you into signing up.” If one works for a large company that offers open-ended use of iPhones for company business, one may press that Personal Hotspot button to watch corporate training videos. But be sure not to accidentally put a book on top of your mouse – otherwise it might replay the how-to-shelter-in-place video 14 thousand times.. What a waste of bandwidth that would be.
