the book has already crossed my radar but I have not had the occasion
to read it, as I'm drowning in books already.

But I would like to queue in with Owen as to interest in FRIAMer
comments if some of you have already read it?

No, I haven't. I wonder if it is better than Chandler's, "Intro. to Modern
Statistical Mechanics" (mid 1980's)?

Then there is always Robert M. Gray's two books "Probability and Ergodic
Theory" and "Information and Entropy" (ca 2000)
