Re: Googlezon Apology

Nick Thompson

All,

You all are due an apology.  As you all know I believe in the power of a naïve question.  And, you know, that friendly people in general and friendly crowds, in particular, can be particularly useful at the beginning  of thinking about a problem, when the big mistakes are made.  And, you all know, that I just like talking to people.

So, given all of this, it is especially important that I be able to demarcate naïve questions from those that are just plain STUPID.   And my question about Googlezon was mostly stupid.   As a discipline, I have tried to make it my practice to Google any question I am inclined to ask this list, before I ask it of the list, no matter how silly it is.  Even if the question is, “Did anybody see my hat on the table at Friam last week?” I Google it, BEFORE I ask you.  And so, I did indeed Google Googlezon.  But, somehow, the settings on my Google had gotten set to Desktop Search!  Which explains why I have gotten so little of value out of Google in the last few days.  Ugh!  Stupid.

One of you kindly pointed out that a proper search of “Googlezon” brings up reams of stuff.  None of I is the orginal film, so far, and none of it is as good as I remember the original film, but I am sure it is in there somewhere, and now I can hunt it down.

So that question wasn’t a Naïve Question;  it was just a stupid one, and I apologize for it.

Nick

Vaaaary funny.  It’s some sort of a video or perhaps only a link?  If somebody doesn’t remember its name or have a better filing system than mine, I think it is lost in the bit-midden.

"I know it’s on my hard drive but I cannot imagine how to search for it."

Use Google.

Does anybody remember a wonderful, phony corporate ad which predicted the eclipsing of Microsoft by an entity called Googlezon (as opposed to Amazoogle, I suppose).  I know it’s on my hard drive but I cannot imagine how to search for it.  Might be time to dust it off and wonder how close it came to being true.  And, of course, we ain’t done yet.

Don't be silly. Soon as WebCrawler aggregates all those results, they will be the clear winner!
