Interesting insights appear to be that:
1 - Apparently email is no longer the primary means of communication among the interesting demographic. Facebook and Twitter are better.
2 - The "spam backbone" (botnets etc) is now better used for other purposes like DDoS and cybercrime. Spam pays too little so only when idle do these facilities fall back to spam.
I checked my postini logs and found that I've dropped down to around 25/day after Christmas, but only had around 35-40 before that.
