Psychiatrist?

Gillian Densmore
I suspect I need a psychiatrist to see weekly. The person I have now is to iregular and spends a lot of time on his computer so it doesn't feel like he's paying attention. Wich is just bad with someone with dyslexia because my body language, or voice or how I phrase something will fill in where I simply don't have the right kinds of words, and frankly need a pro to help with the medication and make sure what ever we try is actually doing good. What sort of stuff to avoid. For example : I't's just my experience with some of the SSRI's and other anti-depressents beer or wine just doesn't work.

Re: Psychiatrist?

Gil,

My experience with psychiatrists is that, when they finally pay attention to you, you are cured.  Try, “Please stop looking at your screen, look at me, and pay attention to what I am about to say.” Then make bloody sure you look HIM/ HER in the eye and ask for what you need as clearly, and simply, as possible, without attempts at irony or charm. What happens in the next ten minutes may determine whether you ever want to see that therapist again.  You just might be cured.

Re: Psychiatrist?

@Nick Re-Psychiatrist. Good point.  I simply don't know how well (if tall) Lamtical that my current guy Noah Freedman prescribed is helping.  I do know I feel pretty frustrated trying to see him on a weekly basis.  My previuse doctor person (the happy pills doctor) . Dr. Lazarous it turned out was  pretty rare these days. Because he, the Md, and Consolors and I had pretty regular meetings. He and I met weekly. So we'd  say ok well Geodon and wellbuturin didn't work, ok ok lets try some other things.
You do bring up a very good point that person I tried after that, Neidheardt simply saying what issues were pretty quickly lead to me feeling much less just...off.  I simply don't know if ranting and raving is just as helpful as the fancy as anti-depressents.

@Nick re Ranting and Raving. As a concrete example I do feel a lot better when I get to rant and rave with my on again off again SO. For example Sunday we cought up and it came up that Vokational Rehab is being pretty hit and mis. One of her cousins basically said. Yep, that's not a you thing, I was layed off helping my company keep their cloud running etc.  Before I knew it felt a lot better, and was in stiches about our simillar problems(Turns out she's dyslexic to).
