I think it is clear that the USA will only lead in new technology businesses. Solar panels, racking, wind blades are low cost manufacturing products. The USA, with proper funding, can lead in new batteries, better ways of capturing solar energy and energy efficiency for existing applications. This article is a good example of new LED inventions making lighting more efficient.
