The Complex has an opportunity to provide some 1099 help to a NYC firm that I founded along with two Columbia U researchers and a former Con Edison strategic planner. The firm, CALM Energy, has won a three-year grant from Con Edison as part of a DOE grant to Con Edison and Boeing to develop Smart Grid demonstrations projects.
We will be working in two areas:
1. Developing and demonstrating Decision Aids to help Bulk Power Distribution operators anticipate and react to bad events.
2. Study the behaviors of large scale energy users who could be involved in curtailment activities (load-shedding) during periods of high demand.
We need people experienced in machine-learning, visualization and decision aid software. We can also use people with experience in the electric utility industry in the transmission and distribution areas.
If any of you or acquaintances of yours are interested in discussing this project with me, send resumes to me at
[hidden email]. Include Smart Grid in the subject line.
