Basically, anyone who looked at any technology that might be used to evade NSA surveillance, like everyone on this mailing list.
On the bright side, this appears to come from a source independent of Snowden. -- rec -- ============================================================ FRIAM Applied Complexity Group listserv Meets Fridays 9a-11:30 at cafe at St. John's College to unsubscribe http://redfish.com/mailman/listinfo/friam_redfish.com |

I've usually argued against Marcus re: being wrong about delegation (though not about increasing ignorance, since delegation is synonymous with ignorance). But in this context, I take the other side. The objective is to do our best to make robust computing techniques ubiquitous. Everyone should be using and searching for tools and content that puts them on the NSA's list, even as the requirements for that list evolve. That objective is no different than that of working toward higher quality of life, less hunger, more education, etc. It's a good thing I haven't produced any children because had I done so, they would be on that list. The interesting game, however, is to see if you can appear (to the NSA or anyone who looks) as if you don't have the knowledge "how to be private", yet have (and use) that knowledge. -- ⇒⇐ glen e. p. ropella Or at least come to a show ============================================================ FRIAM Applied Complexity Group listserv Meets Fridays 9a-11:30 at cafe at St. John's College to unsubscribe http://redfish.com/mailman/listinfo/friam_redfish.com |

The arms race is good. Thomas Drake and William Binney have testified before the German parliament in Berlin today. I have seen lots of police units and black luxury cars in front of the Reichstag (it is on my way to work, if the weather is good like today I use the bike to commute). Diani Barreto has twittered about it https://twitter.com/deCespedes https://twitter.com/Thomas_Drake1 There is an interesting interview with Bill Binney and Kirk Wiebe on YouTube as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_5e-ymbRF4 Somehow I can not find many news articles about it, British and American people should be interested in what NSA and GCHQ are doing all along? There is no censorship taking place, or is it? From what I know, William Binney has been NSA Technical Director from 1965-2001, he should know a bit about the whole topic. http://www.dw.de/nsa-totalitarian-ex-staffer-tells-german-parliament/a-17757008 -J. Here is a another report about the Tor story http://daserste.ndr.de/panorama/aktuell/NSA-targets-the-privacy-conscious,nsa230.html If you do not use encryption, you are spied upon, and if you *do not* use encryption, you are spied upon even more, because now you are on the list of the suspicious people. Which means bascially everyone is being spied upon. I am not sure if the source is independent of Snowden, Jacob Appelbaum belongs to the circle around him (just as Laura Poitras and Glenn Greenwald). Laura and Jacob live here in Berlin. -J.
