NMITSA <http://www.nmitsa.org> is meeting at sfComplex this Friday.
It's a great organization fostering computational innovation and talent in NM. They typically meet in ABQ but will be coming up to Santa Fe more frequently with this meeting being its first up here in a while. Come on out and help support the organization for northern NM. From Eric Whitmore: --------------------------- Some of you are already (well) aware of this, but NMITSA will be having its first quarterly luncheon in Santa Fe next week at the Santa Fe Complex. In addition to that, we're planning two post-lunch discussions that might be of interest. One is regarding activities for a new Northern chapter of NMITSA. Another is intended to help frame a "Challenge of Supercomputing" topic we're planning for the Media Industries Summit in January; basically identifying some of the next steps in digital media research and use of New Mexico's high tech assets like NMCAC and NLR -- and education's role in building that ecosystem. Best wishes, Eric December's NMITSA Lunch is a special event in several ways: • It's on Friday, December 12th (instead of Thursday) • This is the first in the quarterly series of events we're planning for Santa Fe (hosted by our friends at the Santa Fe Complex) • It's also the first of what we hope will be an annual event to look at New Mexico's legislative session, issues affecting our Tech Community, and how the technology community can get involved. State Science and Technology Adviser Tom Bowles will provide an overview on state priorities and expected legislation. Also on the program, former ACI director (and current NMITSA board member) Sayuri Yamada will discuss how to work with the legislature and Santa Fe Complex Executive Director Don Begley will explain ways to become more engaged with the legislative actions affecting our businesses and our lives. Click here for directions COST: $25 to NMITSA & Affiliate Members; $40 to other guests. Please RSVP to Eric Renz-Whitmore (mailto:[hidden email]) Or sign up and pay online here. Following the luncheon session, we're also planning discussions of potential activities for a northern chapter of NMITSA -- and on digital media use of NMCAC, New Mexico's Supercomputer. ============================================================ FRIAM Applied Complexity Group listserv Meets Fridays 9a-11:30 at cafe at St. John's College lectures, archives, unsubscribe, maps at http://www.friam.org |
