Local news: New Fusion Method Offers Hope of New Energy Source

Friam mailing list
The NYTimes reports that researchers at Sandia National Labs have
achieved pulsed fusion:

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/04/08/science/physical/08FUSI.html

It's a Rube Goldberg contraption, but it burns deuterium into helium and
releases energy.

Which sort of reinforces Richard's point about New Mexico's position in
high tech R&D last Friday morning.  This might have happened at MIT, or
Princeton, or Stanford, but it happened in Albuquerque.

Roger,

Sandia has been working on this for over twenty years that I know of.  They
are one of the world leaders, along with Britian, France, and Russia. There
also may be others that I am not aware of.
