Hi FRIAMers,
I am sending along the brochure for a conference I am directing in Los
Angeles May 4 - 6, titled, "Transforming Authority: The Dynamics of
Leadership in Complex Systems." Using the group relations methodology, we
will be exploring the ways in which two systems approaches - group relations
and complexity -- are helpful in understanding and practicing leadership.
This year, Ron Sharrin and Bill McKelvey will be participating in the
conference as "systems theorists." Dr. Sharrin is a fellow of the A.K. Rice
Institute with decades of experience in the group relations tradition. Many
of you know Dr. McKelvey and are already familiar with his work in the
fields of complexity, organizational development and leadership.
Throughout the conference, they will describe the patterns, processes, and
dynamics they see emerging, each from the theoretical perspective they
represent, as a means of helping the staff and membership to do the same.
The conference is the weekend following the UCLA HCS Arrowhead conference,
so some of you might want to do what I am planning to do, which is to hang
out in L.A. for a few days in between in order to attend both :-)
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and please pass along the
brochure to anyone else you think might be interested in attending.
Thanks,
Allison
