Nifty! Does anyone know how to get a snapshot of the DNS database?
I once did a very laborious dictionary scan via Whois that took a couple of days .. see the description: http://backspaces.net/blogs/Misc/DomainMadness.html But, from the article: "Around the same time I happened across the requisition process for the .COM/.NET and .EDU TLD zones, so I made a request for access. Soon enough I had the 3.5GB of .COM domain names, along with 650MB of .NET, loaded into the database..." ..it looks like I could get a database of all the names. Anyone have an idea how? -- Owen Owen Densmore http://backspaces.net - http://redfish.com - http://friam.org On Apr 13, 2006, at 8:56 PM, Tom Johnson wrote: > Interesting Facts about Domain Names > http://www.yafla.com/dennisforbes/Interesting-Facts-About-Domain- > Names/Interesting-Facts-About-Domain-Names.html > > Want to claim a 2 or 3 letter domain name? Verisign makes the DNS "zone files" available as required by their ICANN
contract. Despite the language on the site, they pretty much HAVE to give it to unless your reason is something like "spamming every email account on earth". http://www.verisign.com/information-services/naming-services/com-net-registry/page_001052.html At 10:50 PM 4/13/2006, you wrote: >Nifty!
