Unix, yes, but Linux it isn't. OSX (aka Darwin) is a BSD-like
operating system that is very different from Linux.
Its nice to see gcc providing Altivec support.
Incidently the site mentions the Absoft commerical compiler, but fails
to mention IBM's xl compilers. These are purportedly the *best*
compilers for Macintosh - according the the Virginia Tech guys (who
made the "Big Mac") anyway. My personal experience of xl compilers on
an IBM SP system a few years ago wasn't too positive though.
