Hi,
I joined and look forward to meeting everyone at Jane's and the lectures. My main interest and pursuit has always has been art. I've been trying to concoct a new aesthetics of art. In trying to find the right vocabulary, I have chosen Complexity. My major problem is that I cannot come up with a robust enough definition of truth (robust enough to surmount the relativism and subjectivism of the 20th Century). The best I can do are metaphors. Any ideas are most welcome. Of course I paint a lot. My recent 911 painting is small. It squashes the towers I once commuted to every day into a kind of ball. During the day I worked--S&P just closed the office--on neural network models to predict various financial events. We mostly focused on trade (receivables) data. Energy trading companies were keenly interested in the product despite the clunky platform. Misc: GIS and architectural systems, 3D database tools, GIS and mapping systems, gambling, typology, statistics and my cat, Perry (who can't meow). Is there place listing everyone else's interests? I can only infer from the archives. Regards, Liz -- Elizabeth Cates, CFA P.O. Box 9222 Sante Fe, NM 87504-9222 Home/FAX: 505-474-9050 Cell: 505-913-0099 [hidden email] |

Yaneer Bar-Yam of <http://www.necsi.org> held a workshop a couple years ago at Santa Fe College that explored Complexity and Art. <http://necsi.org/education/sfai.html> Also, Jim Crutchfield <http://www.santafe.edu/~chaos/> has had a couple of initiatives in this space...<http://artscilab.org/> > Is there place listing everyone else's interests? We have these packages installed so it's just a matter of figuring out what we want to do with them. A wiki of people seems very appropriate. I'll look into getting this up in the next week or two. Anyone have specific ideas of what to would be good to do? -Steve ____________________________________________________ http://www.redfish.com [hidden email] 624 Agua Fria Street office: (505)995-0206 Santa Fe, NM 87501 mobile: (505)577-5828 > > > Hi, > > I joined and look forward to meeting everyone at Jane's and the lectures. > > My main interest and pursuit has always has been art.
