Hello all -

The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate
recently launched the Hidden Signals Challenge
<http://www.hiddensignalschallenge.com/>, a $300K prize competition that
seeks to achieve timelier alerts for biothreats in our cities and
communities. The Challenge calls upon open data innovators from a wide
variety of fields to develop concepts for novel uses of existing data that
will identify signals and achieve timelier alerts for biothreats.

We'll be hosting a webinar on Wednesday
<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hidden-signals-challenge-informational-webinar-registration-38784768286>,
and would love for you to share with anyone who might be interested.

Interesting that I was once part of a DARPA-funded project at Carnegie Mellon on this very topic. One indicator of an anthrax attack was sales of flu medications!

My art theme: Dynamic exposition of the tension between matrix order and luminous chaos.

"Attempt what is not certain. Certainty may or may not come later. It may then be a valuable delusion."

From "Notes to myself on beginning a painting" by Richard Diebenkorn.

"It's that knife-edge of uncertainty where we come alive to our truest power." Joanna Macy.
