A possibility? I called the Pecos Trail Café, which is where Peppers was years ago. They don’t normally open until 11:00am on Friday but when I told the boss that a group was looking for a place to have coffee and that some might have food as well he said he was willing to accommodate in whatever we wanted. His name is Jorge and his number is 310-0670 (cell). If this sounds like a possibility, let me know and I’ll call him back. Frank Frank C. That's OK with me, but the food there isn't the greatest. How about Counter Culture or some bakery-type joint?

Sounds good, Tom. Can you call and make sure they can accomodate the group?

Call Counter Culture? I don't think it is necessary. I'm sure it can, given the availability of good weather.

Hey, y'all come. I'll show you the latest toy: https://squareup.com/ (I'll probably be a bit late, around 10:30)
I've got the critter verified with my checking account, and have even used a credit card to pay myself $1.00. It all works, even with the app using a signature!
I think this is a truly nifty critter. Yes, it has a percentage take, 2.25 IIRC, but just think, we can start paying for our wedtech pizzas to whoever gets them. No more guilt!
And it is cute too! -- Owen

All kidding aside, I recommend you all getting one. Why not?
Zero cost, and with a half hour or so you get insights into where the world and cell phones are going. No setup cost. A free dongle. Minor hassles connecting it with a bank account. And you're good to go.
Because the internet makes transactions like this absolutely friction-free, but with a transaction cost < 3%, it really is of interest to small business folks.
I've seen similar stunts used in the past at various events in town, but this really is making small business card processing absolutely trivial. And it lets the payer send the receipt to their own email account. And the payee even gets a google map of where the transaction took place. I'll keep tabs on the bank processing and SquareUp's account, but right now, it is very impressive. -- Owen On Thu, Jul 26, 2012 at 7:11 PM, Stephen Guerin <[hidden email]> wrote: Owen is the official pizza orderer! ============================================================ FRIAM Applied Complexity Group listserv Meets Fridays 9a-11:30 at cafe at St. John's College lectures, archives, unsubscribe, maps at http://www.friam.org |
