Flowing Data

This site showcases representations of a host of different kinds of data, from many sources.
Not sure where I ran across it - sure feels like a Tom Johnson thing.
If you don't know about it, check it out.
Daily information treats, stimulating ways to present data.

Also, I recently saw Rex Jung speak on synesthesia using Prezi
Very engaging, highly creative presentation software. Zooming R Us.
Worth checking out if you do talks.
You can watch their favorite prezis on their site.
Nice looking site, too.

Tom, if the original prompt for FD came from you, thanks!
Tory

Tory,

Any way to get a larger, readable version of the dialects map?  Fascinating.

The article on flowingdata.com includes a link to the source of the map in the line of text that appears directly under the map.

The source is http://aschmann.net/AmEng/ and that page has two larger versions of the map embedded in it.

Click through on the links. It is fascinating! All their stuff has been fascinating and clicking through on most of them is crucial, the details are too tight for the full file size in an email. Real high resolution. Prowl around at some of the other ones. As much fun as all three books of Tufte's.
