First draft of new book

Jochen Fromm-5

I have finished a first draft of my new book today, it is still full of typos but at least I have finished a first version now ( that feels good 😊 after a month of writing ). It is as interdisciplinary as it gets - right in the spirit of the SFI.

A first preprint is available on my blog here:
https://blog.cas-group.net/2020/05/hidden-genes/

Greetings from Berlin,

Jochen

Woohoo! Congrats!  No index, yet? Are indices semi-automated these days? ... like with word cloud algorithms?

Re: First draft of new book

Oops, I must admit I totally forgot to add an index 😬. I have used Microsoft Word for the text and draw.io for the charts. If MS Word is not able to generate an index or if the publisher (if I find one) wants a different format I might have to switch to a different tool like LaTeX. Thanks!

Hi Russ!

Thanks, I haven't heard of you for a long time. How is life in L.A. ? Is the air really better than before the pandemic? We would like to visit California next year if we stay healthy and Mr. Trump is gone (hopefully).

Re: a model of mine about virus diffusion

Very cool, Pietro! I used the HardFinishLockdown button and saw a nice uptick. Maybe I missed it, but it would be nice to have a parameter to stop the lockdown similar to the one for starting the lockdown, so I wouldn't have to babysit it and hit the button. 8^)

(Also, I used Netlogo 6.0.1 so it's not clear it's working as it would if I used a newer one. I just don't use it enough to keep it updated.)

Re: a model of mine about virus diffusion

Pietro Terna
    Dear Glen,

the model, on the right, has a window with a script
.

Ex. if we add there (in any position, the decode step in setup makes the sort of all the rows):

75 lock 0

at tick 75 the lockdown stops.

    Best, Pietro

ps I guess that 6.0.1 is OK for the model
