Job Ad: Urban Systems
The
Heinz College, School of Public Policy and Management and Information Systems,
at Carnegie Mellon University (www.heinz.cmu.edu) invites
applications for a tenure-track assistant professor beginning in August 2013.
Heinz College is currently expanding its program targeted at analysis, design,
and eventual implementation of Urban Systems and is seeking to recruit faculty from
a diversity of related disciplines to be key participants in those
developments. Statistics and the closely related fields of biostatistics and statistical
machine learning are among the disciplines targeted for hiring.
Methodological
work relevant to the applied areas of transportation, crime and public safety,
public health, housing, and social policy, is of particular interest, though we
will consider candidates focusing on any statistical research relevant to urban
areas. While these problem domains are
diverse, to be addressed effectively an interdisciplinary perspective is
required. We are thus seeking candidates who are open to collaborating with
researchers from other disciplines.
All
candidates should have a PhD (or should demonstrate that one will be achieved
shortly), and are expected to have the capacity to be an effective teacher at
the graduate level. Interested applicants are asked to
send their application to the Urban Systems Search Committee at [hidden email]. Review of
applications begins October 15. Applicants
should send a cover letter, CV, and one research paper, and arrange for
submission of three letters of reference.
Carnegie Mellon
is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer with particular interest
in identifying women, minority, individuals with disabilities and veteran
applicants for faculty positions.
