FW: NM Media Industries Strategy Project

Alarid, Catherine

Well yes, the Europe and Boston Area folks are excused from joining us
for the weekly ABQ meetings; but are always welcomed to join us!  ; )

I commute from the Westside (Unser and I-40) to Sandia Labs; so I too am
open to any location in the ABQ metro area.
I agree The Frontier is not conducive to quiet conversation.  The Nob
Hill Flying Star is a favorite of mine; at times the crowd can be a bit
loud.  A few recommendations: RB Winnings is located just south of the
UNM Campus, Fly Star on Rio Grande, Pai Wei (South of Coronado Mall)
and Barelas Coffee Shop.

Until recently a small group of Animators - Viz types were meeting
either on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings.  It was working out well
that we were  meeting at different local restaurants.  We can become the
"Roving ABQ FRIAM"

Any other ideas?

Cathy

So far as I know, we haven't met.  Including you, I know of three
folks here in ABQ, but I'm sure more members of the list are down here.
I know that I've never managed to make the Santa Fe meetings - of
course that's true of a lot of list members who have much better reasons
(it's a much longer commute from Europe than here).

How about we start meeting and see if anyone shows?  I'd really like
to invite some folks who regularly meet in Santa Fe so they can help us
get going with whatever format and method seems to work for them.  I'm
open to nearly any location in the ABQ metro area (since I commute from
Corrales to Sandia Labs nothing's very far out of my way).  I know of
one other person who works on base in the mailing list, so maybe
somewhere closer to that end of my commute would make sense.  Since
coffee quality is a very important and serious consideration in choosing
a location (at least for me :-), I suggest we avoid MoreBucks.
Somewhere in the University area might be a good.  There's always the
Frontier (not conducive to quiet conversation) or the various places on
Harvard just south of Central.  Another possible choice would be the Nob
Hill area - Flying Star or Satellite.  There's probably something in the
Uptown area but since I rarely go there I don't know what.  We could
always meet at my favourite dive, Murphy's Mule Barn, on 2nd north of
Alameda.  Where would be convenient for you, Cathy, others?
