Erlang's selective receive construct encourages a blocking style of
communication, where actors become unresponsive to certain messages
while waiting for a specific type of reply. Instead of making this
mechanism the default for message passing, I've shown how to build it
(in a more general form) given non-deterministic asynchronous
primitives (
