I've been on an ebook binge lately, mostly collecting classics in the public domain at
archive.org and
gutenberg.org, with detours to Canada and Australia when Mickey Mouse copyright extensions demand. I just had a vision of myself as retired, homeless, pursuing the great books reading program on a laptop at MacDonalds while subsisting on french fries.
For a change, here's a pdf of the second edition (February, 2009) of Elements of Statistical Learning, by
Trevor Hastie, Robert Tibshirani, and Jerome Friedman, provided by the authors and approved by the publishers: http://www-stat.stanford.edu/~tibs/ElemStatLearn/ Not quite smoking hot off the presses, but still warm.
