Broadband in NM

Robert J. Cordingley
Does anyone local have any ideas/insight why the NM governor vetoed the
LOCAL GOV'T BROADBAND INFRASTRUCTURE SB24 bill? Sour grapes?

Re: Broadband in NM

Barry MacKichan
The ones who benefit from this veto would be the big companies such as
Comcast and CenturyLink that are eager to preserve their monopolies.
Other than that I have no insight (but would welcome that of others on
this list).

Martinez is a egotistical ass is why. She also jacked up the Rail Runner and bullet trains.   How she's still govenor is a myster. Probably sour grapes or persuing some agenda of her own. Force only knows what that is.

Since there was only 1 vote against it in both the house and Senate, couldn't a 2/3 override take place.

Re: Broadband in NM

Frank Wimberly-2
There was a story late last night that the NM Constitution requires that the Governor is required to explain her objections upon vetoing a bill.  Since she didn't do that the legislature declared her vetoes overridden.  I suspect that fight isn't over yet.
