Hi all anyone know if there's a hosted system that mixes some blgo and wiki features?
I ask because my self hosted blog on namecheap may have caused namecheap to go kaboom, as I love love Wordpress's Wiki-plugin for how-tos and notes to myself but if I'm to awsome for name cheap than I'll need a alternative Wiki features I like: Can add to a page, if I make a mistake can undue it I can be looking at the website and add to it without hopping around from a adminy pannel and the page i'm looking at Wordpres i love because it's fun and easy to add post, manage photos and video Is there a system that has best of both? I think you have a different conception of a wiki than I do. I think of the collaboration being the root of it, the Wiki Way: not only many collaborators, but potentially infinitely many (although quite a bit less than that in practice).
Whereas it sounds like you would be the only / main editor of your site. Looks like you want: editability (more 'page' than 'post'), version control, and 'live' (necessarily WYSIWYG) editing. Does that sound right? A lot of services offer feature sets like this, not sure if any are an obvious solution. It sounds like you're looking for a free hosted CMS. Perhaps try Joomla: https://www.joomla.com/ I wouldn't say it's "the best" in any sense. But it looks like you can set up a free site that's blog- and wiki-ish. Apologies I didn't reply sooner and I might be phrasing my question wrong is this: I also have two blogs, one I'm currently using on namecheap that appears to have lead to backup issues with them, and one on wordpress.com. Wordpress.com rocks for being simple and fun to use. On my DIY host it myself site I found a few quite few plugins that add some in my opinions awsome features that are making a piece of my page have the ability to have a what you see is what you get small additions to a post Another plugint that has some (limited) ability to mave pices of a page around like Wix and Concrete5 And finally one that lets you lighlight text and add some detail. Oh also LOVE LOVE my markdown plugin ERMG being able to set-up a page with some markdown can be so cool. and post on a page plugin because with that setup I can have pages(if that's the right word) dedicated to specific things and while I'm going on about how amazingly cool something is some fun or nice grub (for example) doesn't get lost. Plust it makes it easier to find latter myself. If anyone might know a way to mimic those on wordpress.com, or another place that can mimic those it'd be awsome because I thought it'd be fun and simpler to keep up one page as kind of the mainpage for myself in such a way as aspect of the site to act as kind of how-to and notes, where as another aspect of the same site would be basicly a blog, gallery and what have you. If anyone has some ideas how I can mimic that on wordpress.com that'd so rock! To put that a little more into context my wordpress.com blog started life when I got a renewed yen to talk about some of the awsome things I kept seeing and doing, but I personally find it frustrating I can't also type out a recipe with notes about adjustments i made (for examle) on a page dedicated to awsome grub, and just grub listed. I also find it frustrating I can't say: zomg that episode of Dr Woh(typo) was teh awsome(slang) and then comeback the next day to correct just the typo withough a big to do about loging into my admin panel go through dash board just correct a typo So just thought it'd be rad to have a fun and simple way to do that in oneplace if something like that exists. I think that if you give yourself editor privileges in Wordpress (one more trip to admin) then you can always edit any post. It's one layer of privilege below admin. You'd need to check whether Wordpress.com will let you do that though. ... Bob
